I am glad to learn that someone else besides my PhD committee actually read my thesis!

I don't know what data you are trying to cluster but it is interesting that you found some improvement in your results. One motivation for Streemer was that I wanted to do a limited number of passes over my (fairly) large data set to reduce processing time. If you don't have a lot of data, you may be able to get even better results by using some more complex algorithm, like DP mixture models or LDA.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'd be happy to help!

Thanks for your comment Keimpe. It is certainly true that incandescents produce a lot of heat as well. Note that in warmer countries countries (where air conditioning is used) this exacerbates rather than improves the situation. In colder countries you can still expect savings, though it depends on what kind of heating method you are using.

funny thing is, while these energy saving light bulbs may save costs on energy to produce light. In households however, they also seemed to produce a lot of heat, the energy used by some boilers to produce the same comfort level can triple for the same amount of energy that these lightbulbs produced.
before: gas boiler 6300MW + 16000 MW lights
after: gas boiler 19100 MW + 3200 MW lights
What is more expensive, gas or electricity ?
